Friends, today in this article we will learn about the main parts of a diesel power plant. I am going to give you information about all these in a very good way. So let’s start.
The parts of a diesel power plant are as follows:

(a) Fuel System – Fuel oil is collected in the full day tank by the transfer pump for the whole day. This fuel oil is filtered through a filter before sending it to the full day tank so that suspended impurities can be removed. Diesel oil from the full day tank is fired into the engine through the fuel pump and fuel injection pump.

(b) Air Injection System – The air required for compression in each cycle is sent through air filters. With the help of air filters, dust particles cannot enter inside.
(c) Exhaust System – The polluted gases emitted by the engine are emitted outside the engine house. The exhaust system of the engine cylinder is connected to the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe reduces the pressure in the exhaust line and also reduces the noise produced by the polluted exhaust gases.
(d) Cooling System – To cool the engine cylinder, cold water is continuously passed through the cylinder jacket. The cooling water should always be soft otherwise a crust may form on the cylinder jacket. The circulation of the cooling water is always taken care of.
(e) Lubrication System – Lubricating oil is drawn from the sump by a pump and first passed through a sieve and then a filter. Generally, the lubricating oil is hot when taken from the sump. If the oil is not hot, then it is heated before filtering it through the filter so that its viscosity increases and it can be filtered easily. After this, the lubricating oil is cooled in a heat exchanger before sending it through the engine.
(f) Starting System – Battery and compressed air etc. are required to start the engine, therefore before starting the engine it should be ensured that the battery is in good condition and the pressure of compressed air is appropriate. After this, the engine is started as per the manufacturer’s instructions by turning on the cooling water.
(g) Electricity Generation System – When the engine is run, the generator coupled to it runs and generates electric power. Before connecting the generator to the bus bar, its voltage and speed are adjusted and then after synchronizing it, the circuit breaker is switched on. After synchronizing, more fuel is provided to the engine so that it can take the load.
